Cayo Romano

Cayo Romano is an island off the northeast coast of Cuba, in the province of Camagüey. It is the largest key found within the Jardines del Rey archipelago. The key is a popular tourist destination and an excellent place for fly fishing. To the south, the Bay of Jiguey separates Cayo Romano from the main island of Cuba. To the north, the island is bordered by the Old Bahamas Channel of the Atlantic Ocean. At the far northwest corner is Cayo Paredon Grande, which has an old lighthouse.

Cayo Romano is surrounded by many islets and little keys that, in combination with lagoons, channels and flats, make the place a great habitat for Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon fishing.

La Casona, in Jaronu town, offers very good accommodations for fisherman. The house, dated from 1919 and fully restored two years ago, is located 80 km from Camagüey City and 35 km from the fishing base at Cayo Cruz. It has eight rooms with private bathrooms, bar, restaurant and a living room with reception. The staff at La Casona is warm and friendly and they are always ready to serve our clients.
