Cuba has a reputation for providing some
of the best salt water fishing in the world,
and it provides the ultimate challenge and
attraction of flats fishing for bonefish
and permit. Alongside this, Cuba with its
unique mix of culture, lifestyle, echoes
of Hemingway, architecture and 1950s cars,
provides the basis for the unique cocktail
of the ‘Cuban Experience’. This
unique cultural mix is one of the things
that makes Cuba such a fascinating and contradictory
place!
GrandSlam is a new venture and we have
recently opened up some of the best fishing
in Cuba with spinning and fly-fishing on
the Rio Negro for baby tarpon, snook and
jack, and saltwater fly fishing for bonefish
and permit on the flats at Las Salinas.
Las Salinas has been closed to commercial
sport fishing for the past seven years and
as a result is probably the most prolific
bonefishing flat in Cuba with hordes of
hungry bonefish (average 4-5 pounds), permit,
barracuda and snapper.
This is an exciting new venture and we
are scheduled to open up additional locationsin
Cuba throughout 2003 providing opportunities
for reef fishing, blue water trolling and
freshwater bass fishing.
